Trata-se de um ritual de sadismo extremo, de origem zulu, condenado mundialmente, como puro TERROR.
Cerca de 40 homens da tribo ZULU despedaçam um touro com as próprias mãos.
A HORDA o cerca e o despedaça, começando por arrancar seus olhos e torcer seus testículos, de forma a deixá-lo cego e com dores excruciantes, como meio inicial de incapacitá-lo e de impedí-lo de reagir ao ataque selvagem e brutal.

Conseguem assim impedir qualquer reação do animal ao ataque bestial, impedido que fica de fazer uso de suas defesas naturais. Dão-se por satisfeitos, quando restam apenas ossos e pele, aos destroços.
Antes da Copa do Mundo realizada há alguns anos no país, é claro, o presidente havia se comprometido a banir o espetáculo de horror. É claro que ele se esqueceu logo depois ....
Nos últimos anos tem sido um frequentador assíduo desta carnificina, que muitos locais ainda consideram uma "tradição".
Imperméavel aos apelos internacionais, o país tem recusando toda e qualquer apelo no sentido da proibição deste ato hediondo, banido na época da ocupação inglesa da África do Sul. Organizações de direitos animais africanas tem se empenhado fortemente no FIM deste horror, até aqui sem qualqueer resultado.

Este "alegre festival primaveril", dos "primeiros Frutos", como chamam os sul-africanos, dá uma clara medida do que acabou prevalecendo mundo afora.
Culturas isoladas mundo afora, ao invés de aderirem aos costumes considerados minimamente aceitáveis internacionalmente, acabaram por impor suas "peculiaridades" aos países nos quais deveriam, por suposto, estar inseridas.
Estes governos, por sua vez __ prefiro não pensar aqui com base em que "motivações" __ preferem se manter silenciosos enquanto grande parte de seus habitantes promovem atos, a título de "Festivais", capazes de causar a repugnância e excitar os ânimos internacionalmente.
O fato é que o mundo hoje é globalizado, as fronteiras entre países se tornaram fictícias e todas as economias se tornaram interdependentes.
Porque temos que "engolir" a nossa repulsa e indignação?
Porque deveríamos contemporizar com estas práticas remanescentes de tempos infernais?
As relações internacionais tem que ser evidentemente uma estrada de mão-dupla, onde o vetor não corre em uma só direção.
O mais doloroso é ver com que seletividade e hipocrisia se vendem as chamadas "tradições zulus" pelos sul-africanos. Consultado um site internacional que faz referência à tradução cultural zulu como forma de atrair e incentivar o turismo na África do Sul, as tradições listadas são APENAS as tradições culturais pacíficas e bonitas, deixando propositadamente de fora qualquer referência à selvageria de certos costumes zulus.

Entretanto este ritual de "graças" pela boa colheira continua a ser presidido pelo rei zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini, e o porta-voz da Casa Real zulu, príncipe Mbonisi Zulu, onsiste em afirmar que desconhece quaisquer protestos vindos de ativistas internacionais:

Como mencionado acima, antes da Copa do Mundo realizada no país o então presidente Jacob Zuma chegou a se comprometer com o fim desta barbárie, palavra esta que, é claro, depois dos jogos e da entrada de dinheiro no país, não foi evidentemente cumprida ....

I am absolutely shocked and saddened to learn of the violence and torture inflicted upon a bull each year in KwaZulu-Natal. Such cruelty is of a level that is condemned worldwide, and there is no place for it in civilised society.
Allowing this horrific animal cruelty to continue taints South Africa's good international reputation. And will force us to take strong actions against your economy and tourism.
We, the undersigned, call upon the Zulu Community and all of its Leaders, to bring an end to the extremely cruel Ukweshwama ritual at Nongoma, KwaZulu-Natal. The barbaric and extremely violent Ukweshwama ritual accomplishes nothing but the physical agony of an innocent being. A great many Zulu do NOT endorse this torture. Those that perform the Ukweshwama ritual do NOT represent all Zulus. Zulu identity and culture is not solely defined by this cruel ritual.

It is very upsetting to see that you intentionally try to HIDE from the world what happens in South Africa, with legal compliance, which includes even the participation of you own President, as happened in 2010.
Be sure I will be apreading this information for whatever means I can find, including the blogs I write in. And I am sure your economy will be hardly affected with tourism boycott.
During this upsetting and horrifying event, a group of men frighten, torture and kill a bull with their bare hands. The bull suffers agonizing pain and fear for a long period of time. According to eyewitness description, "For 40 minutes, dozens trampled the bellowing, groaning bull, wrenched its head around by the horns to try to break its neck, pulled its tongue out, stuffed sand in its mouth and even tried to tie its penis in a knot they raised their arms in triumph and sang when the bull finally succumbed."
Such extreme violence and any celebration of a clearly suffering and defenseless, innocent being only serves to further desensitize humanity to all manner of violence. At this point in history there is irrefutable, documented scientific evidence that proves the link between violence towards animals and violence that is in turn perpetrated against people, and this ritual exploits that link.
According to experts in African religious practices, the Ukweshwama ritual is performed in part to ensure that the Zulu nation has "a strong army to defend the king's subjects." But this in and of itself makes the ritual archaic, as South Africa is not at war. There is no Zulu army, only one national military force, supported via tax-payer money, and there are other, more effective ways (that are already employed and overseen by legislation, regulation and policy) to ensure that the Zulu nation is respected and protected.
We, the undersigned stand in world-wide solidarity to state unequivocally that the Ukweshwama ritual has no place in a democratic South Africa or a democratic, civilized world, and like any acts of torture committed in any land, must not be condoned by society. It is time to call this ritual out on what it really is - UNNECESSARY AND CRUEL - and embrace change. Traditions and cultural practices need to evolve in any society. Tradition is not an excuse for cruelty nor is any society enhanced via cruelty. We beseech the Zulu leadership to become one of the many advanced societies that seek to end any practices, traditional or otherwise, that cause such unnecessary and terrible suffering.
I strongly advise you to ban this terrible event and ensure that South Africa's progressive image is not overshadowed by this brutal injustice to a defenceless animal.
